Re: Diana's time to get it done journey

Hi Diana, I went to see the dietician and the surgeon yesterday. Everything is fine and the diet can be altered to include very mushy foods. Have to remain on 1200 cal/day. But last night ate 1/2 breast of chicken without problems. The band has not been inflated. That will be for nov 26.
Lost 3 kg official in 5 days.
I am going to visit my family in Quebec and return via San Francisco to visit a friend that moved there from Bangkok. The harder part is that I will travel with my 2 whippets...cages in airports!
I would not worry too much about all the scary diet stories. Less and reeducate your mind. Vitamin supplements that dissolve in water, adds variety to tastes. No carbs, at least 120 g of protein per day and some vegetables. I think it is feasible .
    Good luck
    Mike

I am so very excited for you! 3kg in 5 days is a very impressive weight loss. Especially if you haven't been feeling deprived.

Enjoy your travels (whippets and all). Hope all is well with your family and friend.

OK, so here it goes. Am strongly reconsidering lap band and thinking of VSG (vertical sleeve) instead. Price is comparable, no risk of slippage or PBs. Input? Have to make final decision by Monday as surgery is scheduled for 1/16.

Re: Diana's time to get it done journey

Hello Diana, I'm Michaela from Smithers, BC/Canada. My daughter an I are having the surgery done on Jan. 20 with Dr. Almanza.
I have the same problem right now, I don't know if we should go for the lap band or sleeve. So many sites as well as reviews show that patients who had the band changed later to get the sleeve. Some infos say the sleeve is more successful than the band and its less complicatet later in life. No issues with filling, corosion or other issues with the band. Fillings can be difficult to. So, thinking of changing to. Will see, have still some time.Good luck with your decision.

Diana, I have heard many stories of people who have started with the Lap Band and went back later to having it removed and get the sleeve instead. I think that ultimately you have to make the decision that you think will work out the best for you in the long run. I wish you luck with your choice and your surgery.

Diana, your surgery is in 3 days! You must be so excited! I am curious, did you decided to stick with the Lap Band or have you switched to the sleeve?

Re: Diana's time to get it done journey

Diana I see you had your surgery yesterday. Hope everything went well. I had my second lapband on 11-22-13. My first one got a leak so had to be replaced. I used a different surgeon this time and he dose things totally different than my first one. The weight loss is going a lot slower this time but I am trying to be patient. I also have noticed that the sleeve seems to be the in thing right now but I was not comfortable with it either. Hope you have great luck with your band. You are off to a good start.
